The Byron family held the Manor for the next 139 years until the death, in 1921,of Edmund Byron who was the last Lord of the Manor of Coulsdon
He lived in the large house next to St John's Church (the recreation ground was the front garden) before he built the house now known as Coulsdon Manor Hotel
